One of the two runners that participated in the Self-Transcendence 2 mile Tjarnarhlaup race last Tuesday, February 1, was Ágúst Örn, who was running his first Tjarnarhlaup race this year.
It was a joyous occasion to have Ágúst back to the Tjarnarhlaup races, for he brings with him a gentleness which is simply contagious. Ágúst has taken to heart the philosophy of Sri Chinmoy that one should not concentrate solely on the results, but participate and show one's oneness. Ágúst is, therefore, always very welcome to the races.
Ágúst's time was 15:38, which is six seconds better than in his last race on November 30th, but still an exact minute slower than his best time, which came on September 7th.
Thus Ágúst did not present much of a challenge for Rúnar Páll, despite Rúnar's rather lacklustre performance. Rúnar, who wasn't feeling in peak physical condition, ran seven seconds slower than last week, and hasn't been able to break 14 minutes this year, although that is where he truly belongs.
