The boys in the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team Iceland have started playing soccer again

After a long break, the boys in the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team have started playing soccer again. The games, which are filled with breakneck speed, brilliant moves and excitement, are usually played early on Saturday mornings.

Last Saturday, March 12, your faithful reporter dropped by and beheld an exciting game in full swing. Among the highlights that the reporter was able to capture were Upajukta's examplary goal celebretion, Rúnar Páll's ball-control and Andrés' samba-football. Davíð showed some examplary defensive work and Ganagane showed his muscles. Víðir and Ágúst couldn't show much, for they played the role of goalkeepers.

Upajukta races in New York

One member of the Icelandic Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team took part in the Self-Transcendence 2 mile race in New York, Saturday, April 16

A sizeable number of members of the Icelandic Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team were present for the opening ceremony of the World-Harmony Run in New York, Saturday, April 16.

The World-Harmony Run was founded by Sri Chinmoy, who is also the founder of the global Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team holds many events in New York, and among them is a weekly Self-Transcendence 2 mile race on Saturday mornings.

One member of the Icelandic delegation, Upajukta Ágústsson, took the opportunity to participate in the Self-Transcendence 2 mile race at the aforementioned Saturday, April 16. His performance was sagaic, as always.

Unfortunately, the actual results of the race were lost during the journey back home over the Atlantic. Perhaps, however, this is for the best for all involved. Let us say no more on this subject :)

Fun-runs continue

Three runners met for the Self-Transcendence Sunday Fun-run, Reykjavík, February 27

The joggers of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team Iceland are keeping up the good work and keep meeting for the Self-Transcendence Sunday Fun-runs.

The three runners that assembled last Sunday, February 27, were undeterred by the rather unpleasant weather, but all three of them, Rúnar Páll and the sisters Selma and Kristbjörg, also participated last week.

This means that this week's edition was short of last week's edition by only one man, Suballabha to be specific. However, Suballabha had every intention of running and had arrived in Laugardalur to do so when he was called away on urgent business.

The course for this second official Sunday Fun-run was the same as in last week - a 2km loop. However, it cannot be guaranteed that the course will always stay the same as the Sunday Fun-runs are mainly informal, as opposed to our formal Self-Transcendence 2 mile Tjarnarhlaup races. Whether the Sunday Fun-runs will stay informal only time will tell, but, in its present state, it at least makes for variety.
