When I awoke this morning I felt a burning desire to run.  Up until now I had kept to the background, taking photographs and assisting, since, after all, I wasn't in shape to do much more.  Now, however, I felt the call of the wild and responded with a short run.

After having breakfast, me and the Rúnars went to Ásbyrgi national park, since we didn't get to spend enough time there the day before.  Ásbyrgi is, of course, extremely beautiful, and, areas with such beautiful trees is one thing we don't have too much of in Iceland.  However, what impressed us even more than its beauty, was the silence of the area.  We climbed up to the rockline, where we had a view over the whole of Ásbyrgi, and there the silence was all-pervading.  I stayed by the rocks for a while, letting the view sink in and watching the birds, and was filled with the silence.

After this satisfying trip to Ásbyrgi, we drove to Dettifoss from the eastern side, but the day before the race had started on the western bank.  Here we mingled easily with a big group of tourists, most of who had their cameras in action.  We all felt the power of Dettifoss, just like we had felt the silence of Ásbyrgi, and had fun taking pictures from all angles.

The end of this fun day was when we joined the rest of our group for a swim in a hot spring near Lake Mývatn.  After this ways parted.  I spent the last night of the trip at my paternal cousins in Akureyri.

An exciting trip has ended.  Who knows, maybe we'll do it again next year!?
